What Can We Expect for Real Estate Next Year?
Here’s what I think we will see in the 2022 real estate market.
What is the housing market going to look like in 2022? So many of my clients are asking this right now. No one can predict the future, but there are a couple of leading indicators that can show us what 2022 might look like.
There are fewer houses on the market right now than there were a year ago at this time. The days on market and list-to-close prices are also still very attractive for sellers. All those are signs that we’ll be in a strong seller’s market heading into 2022.
I think that 2022 will look a lot like 2021, but just a little less intense.
Interest rates are predicted to bump up a little bit next year. We live in a time with historically low interest rates, so we can expect them to increase slightly. It won’t be dramatic, but they will go up.
In summary, I think that 2022 will look a lot like 2021, but just a little less intense. In the spring of 2021, we saw multiple offers on every house, but that started to tail off as buyers got fatigued. I think we’ll see a seller’s market that is a little bit calmer than it was this year.
